Towards Justice and Human Development in the South Pacific: How Australia Can do Better

with Stewart Firth

Stewart Firth is a visiting professor at the State, Society and Governance in Melanesia Project at the Australian National University. He was Professor of Politics at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji, 1998-2004, and in earlier years he taught at the University of Papua New Guinea and the University of Hawaii. He has written widely about the South Pacific and Australian foreign policy, and his most recent book is Australia in International Politics: an introduction to Australian foreign policy, 2nd edn, Allen & Unwin, Sydney, 2005. He is now researching the new Australian engagement in the Pacific, and the impact of globalisation on the region.
