Work Intensification in Europewith Dr Brendan BurchellCambridge University, United Kingdom Biography Dr Brendan Burchell first studied Psychology as an undergraduate at the University of Birmingham in 1978-1981. He then completed a PhD in Social Psychology at the University of Warwick between 1981 and 1984. In 1985 he took a job in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Cambridge, to work on a labour market project with, among others, Colin Fraser. He has taught and researched at Cambridge ever since, primarily in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences where he is currently a senior lecturer. Most of his research is now interdisciplinary, bringing together perspectives from sociology, economics, law and psychology to bear on peoples' working lives, on topics such as stress at work, job insecurity and work intensification. His research as an academic is complimented by his wife's, Lynda Burchell's, practice as a counselling psychologist. Download Dr Burchell's notes (Powerpoint Presentation 1.64 Mb) |
